UP+ English & Maths

A personalised programme combining one-to-one English and Maths tutoring with Urban Pursuit activities, helping students build confidence and re-engage with learning.

About the programme

Our UP+ programme is the perfect balance of academic learning alongside a classic Urban Pursuit activity filled afternoon. It allows students who may find the mainstream classroom setting overwhelming, access personalised learning, building on their academic confidence.

What’s involved

50 minutes of 121 tutoring in the core subjects of English and Maths lead by trained teachers. Each session is personalised for each student allowing them to learn at their own pace in a style which suits them.

Meet the Tutors!

Anna Jamieson

Anna has a Post-graduate Diploma in Dyslexia and Literacy (Level 7) and 20 years’ experience working in schools and specialist settings as a SEND Teacher. She cares deeply about enhancing her students’ learning experiences and raising their self-esteem, believing that a young person of any ability or background can thrive through inclusive and differentiated education.

Outside of work, Anna loves going to gigs and is passionate about music. She also speaks Spanish, enjoys walking, dancing,learning about different cultures and browsing around markets!

Jez Skrokoz

Jez initially joined Urban Pursuit in October 2023 as an Adventure Youth Worker, but since October 2025 he is now working as a Maths Tutor on our UP+ programme. Trained as a Maths and Economics teacher Jez has 17 years’ experience of working with young people in a variety of settings – from in the classroom to the great outdoors on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions!

Jez is energised by seeing young people experiencing learning tailored to their needs, having success and enjoying those ‘lightbulb moments’ for the first time. As he himself loves running, cycling, climbing and hiking he believes in the power of being active alongside classroom learning as an amazing tool for physical, mental, emotional wellbeing and promoting positive change.
