Move on UP Primary Transition Summer Camp 2026

Moving On UP

We're thrilled that both our summer camps are now full! Here is the information for our participants.

‘We made our world in the forest’
Participant, 2025

How would it be to spend 24 hours in the wilderness?

Our ‘Move on UP 2026’ camp will give you the opportunity to find out. A day of floating down the River Wye on canoes will lead to an overnight adventure, where you and the rest of your Urban Pursuit tribe will spend a night amongst the trees and beneath the stars.

It’s all about connection with the outdoors, with each other, and with your own inner strength. Expect challenge, teamwork, and moments outside your comfort zone, as well as a taste of the magic the woods have to offer.

This opportunity is made possible through the David Bell Adventure Bursary which covers all costs including transport, activities, food, and accommodation.

What’s Involved?

Day 1: Team building and Canoe Trip

We’ll collect you from your home at around 9:00. The focus of this first day is to build the team and get to know the people you will be camping out with the following day. You will be home by 17:00 latest.

You will set out on a canoe trip down the River Wye from Monmouth, working together to navigate your way to a pick-up point downstream. You will experience the calm and peace of the river, as well as some moments of fast-flowing excitement, gathering for lunch and games on the riverbank.

Things to remember:

  • A packed lunch
  • Light clothing you don’t mind getting wet
  • A spare change of clothes
  • Slip on shoes

Day 2–3: Overnight woodland stay

We’ll pick you up from home at around 10:00 and head straight to the woodland where we will begin setting up camp in the woods which will be our home for the next day. There shall be team challenges and games, creative activities and of course, shelter building! Together we will connect back to the four elements we have been exploring over the last five weeks, reflect on your primary school career, and set intentions for your next chapter as you move into secondary school carrying all of your strength and learnings. We shall cook our meals over an open fire, and gather around the fire to share stories, songs, games and toast marshmallows!

Good morning, it’s day 3! We’re proud to say we’ve made it through our first night camping out in nature, and we’re ready to welcome our parents at 09:30 for a celebration of the camp; to mark the ending of primary school, and the opening of a new chapter of our lives moving into secondary! Home time at 11:00.
