Celebrating One Year of UP+ English & Maths Tuition

UP+ was created to give young people a different approach to English and Maths. One year on, we’re celebrating everything that’s been achieved. More than qualifications or Functional Skills passes, we’re celebrating the confidence that’s been rebuilt, the relationships that have been formed and the belief in learning that’s returned for so many young people.

We’re celebrating the student who arrived believing they “just weren’t good at maths” and left asking to take their work home to proudly show a parent. The young person who learned to settle into lessons with confidence. The students who started asking more questions, trying new things and discovering strengths they didn’t know they had.

Those moments may not appear on a results sheet, but they often become the foundation for everything that follows. One of the greatest privileges of running UP+ has been seeing that every young person’s journey looks different. Some have achieved Functional Skills qualifications, while others have found confidence through project-based learning or by having trusted adults who believed in them and adapted learning to their individual needs.

Time and again, we’ve seen what can happen when young people feel understood, supported and encouraged. Confidence grows. Curiosity returns. Learning starts to feel possible again.
